We started #HarryHomers as somewhere for a couple of us to learn all about the IRC and what the different commands were, as no one wanted to give us SOP or AOP on any channels. Without which you cannot learn anything.
Also we wanted somewhere to go and just chat, about nothing inparticular, well........ anything and everything realy and not be tied down to just one subject, like a great many of the other IRC channels.

We started our channel on DalNet in 1997 and after a few months we moved to Beyond and then after almost 2 years (May 2000) we have moved to AltNet as it is much faster, with less lag.
AltNet has now changed its name to Purplewire.org

Soon after starting on Beyondirc the other HarryHomers channels started.
Our channel has grown beyond all expectations and now we have a mixture of seasoned campaigners through to novices both male and female.
On our channel we have users with Amiga's, MAC's and PC's (win9*, XP, XP-Pro and Linux).
