mIRC program for IRC.

To use IRC you need to use a program (some times called a client) to be able to connect to a IRC Sever. One of these is mIRC, you can get the mIRC program from http://www.mirc.co.uk or here for version 5.91 (1.1 meg). This program is shareware, full details of regestering are on their site. Below follows a simple setting up of mIRC to join our channel.

Once you have downloaded it, install mIRC in to any directory of your choice.

Step 1. When mIRC is first run it opens up the prefs window (fig. 1.) this is where you connect to the server you require to use. First you have to tell it which server you want to join. Use the add button for this, you then get the server window opening (fig. 2.) add the required details and push ok.

That is the basic setup done for mIRC, along with mIRC you can also run add-on scripts, these add's usefull pop-up menu's and some scripting to mIRC. Scripts are available on the WEB.
