AmIRC by Vapor.
AmIRC is the best IRC client on any platform and is a Shareware program available from
Vapor Software
AmIRC from Vapor is just one of
their product's, they also do Voyager and Micro-Dot II.
AmIRC is also available from EyeTech as part of the Netconnect Software package for
Internet use, along with modems and other hardware and software.
After first running AmIRC you are presented with the Server select
page, where you can enter your details and channel names and server list's
(on the left).
On the right is a setup for joining #Netconnect, on this one all you do is set
the Nick you require and push connect or double click on
the #Netconnect line.
It is always best to pick at least 2 Nicks as one may be in use
already, try to pick Nicks that are not too common such as names and
initial's, Dave, Mike and Yoda. Yoda? I hear you say, names from film's are
common to, do not worry if you join a channel for the first time and
NickServ say's "that Nick is already in use", it will most likely
happen.
If it does just change to another Nick or let
NickServ give you aGuest Nick then use the
Info command to find one that's not Registered, then change
to that.
With AmIRC when you receive files, you set the
Mime Prefs to either Save, Show or Save and Show.
This can be done for alsorts of file's including Picture's (jpeg, gif, iff),
Sounds (wav, 8SVX and mod's), this can be done for most type's of files.
